About blood pressure

Blood pressure indicates how much pressure the blood provides on the blood vessels of the circulatory system.
A normal blood pressure will, at rest, lie between 100-140 (systolic) and 60-90 (diastolic). If you have a blood pressure below 100/60 mmHg, it is called for hypotension and it is over 140/90 mmHg, it is called hypertension.
High blood pressure affects more than 25 percent of the Western population and causes up to 12 percent of all deaths.
Blood pressure is measured typically by putting a blood pressure cuff on the upper arm. The pumped up with air that slowly dropped out again, and along the way read blood pressure.
